Welcome to namemyguineapig.co.uk. Yes, my guinea pig has finally chosen a name for himself. Thank you to everyone who submitted a name via the guestbook page. A little history:I bought my guinea pig (also known as a cavy) on the 22nd January 2006 from a pet shop in Lewisham ( London ). Ever since bringing him home I was confused as to what to call him. As he was my first pet since coming to the UK I had no idea about a name for him so I set up this site to encourage people to recommend a name for him.
After numerous comments and suggestions in the guestbook I finally presented him with the suggested names. As he loves chewing papers I placed the names in small pieces of papers and presented them to him. The idea was that the first one he chewed on would be used as his name. Well it worked, almost, the only down side was that he swallowed it. So I had to work out which one he swallowed by the power of deduction. I finally found out that he chose 'Persimmon'. So a big thanks to Margaret Holbrough for recommending the name.
As well as searching for a name, I saw this as an opportunity to share my interest of guinea pigs with other guinea pig lovers and I can proudly say that I got acquainted with quite a few people through this site.
